Leuphana receives quality seal for Psychology Master’s programme
Leuphana University Lüneburg has now become the first German university to be awarded the seal of quality for Master’s programmes in Business Psychology by the German Psychological Society (DGPs). With this seal, the society recognises the excellent professional quality of psychology study programmes. Leuphana received the award for its English-language International Joint Master of Research in Work and Organizational Psychology, which it offers jointly with the Universities of Maastricht and Valencia.
The two-year study programme in the field of work and organisational psychology prepares students to analyse organisations with regard to work situations and development potential, to identify corresponding success factors and to realise them. Students complete the in-depth and research-oriented Master’s programme with a joint degree from Leuphana University Lüneburg, Maastricht University and the Universitat de València.
University President Sascha Spoun is pleased about the success: „The seal of quality represents another milestone in a successful development. In just a few years, we have succeeded in developing psychology at our university to a high scientific level. This can also be seen in the fact that our Bachelor’s degree in psychology also already has the DGPs seal of quality.“
The three participating universities contribute their respective research foci and teaching competencies as well as their specific profiles to the study programme. Students spend one semester at each of the three universities and then choose one of the universities for the fourth semester, where they write their Master’s thesis.
The programme aims in particular to develop theoretical, methodological, organisational and communication skills. These competences prepare students for both an academic career or a career in internationally oriented organisations. Jobs in companies or consultancies, in public administration or political consultancy are also open to them.
The first graduates have now been officially bid farewell at Maastricht University.
