High proportion of women students

This week students of the 12th full-time MBA year of GISMA Business School have begun their studies in Hanover.
55 students from almost 20 different countries have come to Lower Saxony to complete their graduate studies with the Master of Business Administration (MBA).

After just an eleven-month study period the participants will be awarded both the American MBA qualification given by Purdue University as well as the German title from the Leibniz University, Hannover.

What is particularly noticeable this year is the large proportion of women, namely 42%. In addition, there are many students with a first degree in engineering and sciences.

Traditionally studies at GISMA begin with a round of introductions during which all the participants tell something about their previous qualifications and career experience.
Private aspects are also briefly mentioned. Thus the students got to know among other things about the particular challenges of two of their female colleagues: the 34-year-old Megan from USA has come to Hanover with her four children to strike out on a new professional direction with her MBA studies. And a young Pakistani lady had taken her passport and visa into the office by chance a few days before departing for Germany in order to make copies – it was the day on which her home went under in the floods.
