ESMT European School of Management and Technology has placed 29th worldwide and 4th in Europe in the Aspen Institute’s ranking Beyond Grey Pinstripes. ESMT was especially strong in the area of business impact and student exposure, placing 14th and 17th respectively. Stanford Graduate School of Business was ranked 1st globally, while IE University in Spain was the only European business school in the top 10.
Beyond Grey Pinstripes is a biennial ranking that serves as an industry benchmark for environmentally and socially responsible business education. It surveys international full-time MBA programs on the integration of issues concerning social and environmental stewardship into their curriculum. The ranking focuses on four areas: course content, student exposure, business impact, and faculty research. To participate business schools must be accredited by AACSB, EQUIS or AMBA; in 2011 approximately 150 international business schools took part.
“ESMT was founded in the spirit of the social market economy and has focused on sustainable business management and responsible leadership from its inception,” said CB Bhattacharya, ESMT Dean of International Relations and E.ON Chair in Corporate Responsibility. “As a newcomer to the ranking, we are proud to belong to the top five business schools in Europe.”
Julia Millard, current full-time MBA student and president of the Social Impact Club at ESMT commented, “The Beyond Grey Pinstripes ranking provides a valuable orientation for sustainability-minded people. I am happy that ESMT’s ranking has confirmed my personal experience on campus.”
