Gold for the Software-Cluster: European Award for Excellence in Cluster Management
The German Software-Cluster has been recognized for excellence in cluster management. After an extensive audit, the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI) has awarded the software cluster in June 2013 the "GOLD Label for Cluster Management Excellence". Only 16 European cluster organizations have received this award so far.
Across Europe, already about 1,500 cluster organizations exist in various industries and regions. The "GOLD Label for Cluster Management Excellence" is an independent seal of quality that is awarded to European cluster organizations whose cluster management is proven to be highly professional and that also commit to continue optimizing their structures and processes. Overall, only 16 cluster organizations in Europe have so far received the "GOLD Label", including two German leading-edge clusters: the Software-Cluster and MicroTEC Südwest.
"Professionalism and excellence in cluster management are becoming increasingly important issues for cluster organizations. This award is a proof that we are on the right track here in the Software-Cluster, "says Gino Brunetti, Manager of the Software-Cluster.
The GOLD Label was developed by the ECEI on behalf of the European Commission to make the management of the European cluster organizations comparable. The awarding of the label was preceded by a differentiated, multi-level audit of the cluster’s management with regards to strategy, structures, and services by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA).
Overall, the cluster management was evaluated based on 31 criteria, for which a maximum of 150 points can be achieved. With 128 points given, the Software-Cluster is among the five best rated cluster organizations. The threshold that is needed to achieve the GOLD label is 120 points.
