Daisuke Motoki appointed to ENQA Board
At this year’s General Assembly the European network ‘Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA)’ new board members have been appointed. One of them is Daisuke Motoki, Managing Director of the Foundation of International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA), Bonn.
At its 4th General Assembly that was held on 29-30 October 2013 in Vilnius, Lithuania, the members of the European umbrella organisation of the quality assurance and accreditation agencies (ENQA) came together, amongst others, in order to appoint the new board. New members in the ENQA board are Daisuke Motoki, Managing Director of the FIBAA and Anthony McClaran, Chief Executive of the ‚Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA)‘, Great Britain. Caty Duykaerts, Head of the Executive Unit of the Belgium Agency ‘Agence pour l'Evaluation de la Qualité de l'Enseignement Supérieur (AEQES)’ was re-elected as board member. Dr Padraig Walsh, Chief Executive of the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) and board member of ENQA since 2009 was elected as President. The board members, Dr. Helka Kekäläinen, Secretary General of the ‘Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council (FINHEEC)’ and Josep Grifoll, Technical Director of the ‘Quality Assurance at the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU Catalunya)‘, Spain, have been appointed as vice presidents.
The main responsibilities of the ENQA Board are to prepare and supervise a yearly work plan, to be discussed and approved by the General Assembly, decide on the admission of new members or the exclusion of members in breach of the Statutes, make recommendations to the General Assembly on any modification of the Regulations, appoint the Director and to represent the interest of ENQA and their members.
As a new board member Daisuke Motoki wants to campaign for more dialog between quality assurance agencies and providers of higher education. His goal is to develop and implement methods and strategies to enhance quality in higher education. Motoki considers ENQA as a think tank, a network, which enables the exchange between the different stakeholders.
