BioCon Valley successful in EU funding: Blue BioTech Alliance supports BioTech SMEs in BSR
In a consortium with national and international partners BioCon Valley® has successfully acquired funding for the project „Baltic Blue BioTech Alliance“ for promoting marine or blue biotechnology. Out of 280 proposals the Interreg Programme’s Monitoring Committee selected and approved the best 35 project applications for funding last Friday. It is the goal of the project to allow researchers from young companies and academia a fast and direct access to experts and to foster cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR). The development of new and innovative products and services will be stimulated. The project is scheduled to launch in March 2016.
„The success of the project Baltic Blue BioTech Alliance is stimulating not only for BioCon Valley but for the biotech sector in genereral. The young industry in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will be supported even better“, says Lars Bauer, CEO of BioCon Valley® GmbH. As part of the project BioCon Valley will act as central contact point and service provider for entrepreneurs and young companies and research groups.
Baltic Blue Biotechnology Alliance: Lead by GEOMAR (Germany), this project will bring together blue biotechnology actors from across the Baltic Sea Region to develop innovative marine bio-based products. By systematically pooling national capabilities for joint product development and marketing the participating research institutes and business clusters will be able to reach the critical mass for action. Partners in the project come from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden and Germany. More: www.submariner-network.eu
