Göttingen State and University Library and TIB intensify cooperation
Library directors sign Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation from 2016 to 2018
GÖTTINGEN/HANNOVER, 17 March 2016 – Göttingen State and University Library (SUB Göttingen) and the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) in Hannover have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a three-year collaboration from 2016 to 2018. In this Memorandum of Understanding, the two partners express their common interest in working together closely and in exchanging information regularly on topics specified therein.
“The planned cooperation focuses on the areas of licensing and literature provision, mathematics, research services and digital preservation,” stated TIB Director Uwe Rosemann, explaining the content of the Memorandum of Understanding. “We will also work together more closely in future to examine the demands placed on the local library system,” Rosemann continued. Examples of concrete topics of cooperation specified by the partners in their Memorandum of Understanding include the Open Access Publishing Fund, the continuation of the Scientific Information Service (SIS) Mathematics, research data management and digital research methods (e-Research).
By signing their Memorandum of Understanding, Göttingen State and University Library and TIB are actively further developing their cooperation. “By cooperating together, our libraries wish to exploit our considerable similarities with regard to our interests, duties and fields of activity, such as virtual research environments or access to research resources, and to pool our expertise. Together, we will be in a better position to achieve our strategic objectives,” stated Dr. Wolfram Horstmann, Director of Göttingen State and University Library.
