Fresenius University Officially Opens a New Study Center in New York
The Fresenius University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Media set a new milestone in its internationalization strategy and opened a new study center in Manhattan on April 5.
Today, internationality is more in demand than ever; the world keeps growing closer together. An international experience in a global world is no longer a nice-to-have – it has become a must-have. For Professor Marcus Pradel, the chairman of the board and vice-president for University Development and International Business Development, the opening of a new branch in New York is a logical next step: “The internationalization plays an increasingly important role, whether in education, in research or via internships abroad. As we open this new study center, we are expanding our activities in the USA further and giving our students a unique opportunity to gain intercultural capabilities and valuable personal as well as academic experience.”
The Fresenius University of Applied Sciences is one of the few educational institutions in Germany that offers its students integrated semesters in Shanghai and New York within the framework of their study programs without time loss. This means that the courses that students attend abroad get fully credited towards their studies. In the Big Apple, thanks to the collaboration with Berkeley College, the students can choose among majors in Marketing Management, Personnel Psychology, Controlling, and Tourism.
The study center was opened with a festive event: over 100 national and international representatives of business communities, associations, educational institutions and media accepted the invitation of the Faculty of Economics and Media and attended the event. Among them were the honorary president of the Fresenius University, Ludwig Fresenius, Berkeley College senior administration, including Michael J. Smith, President, and Kevin L. Luing, Chairman, Board of Trustees who cut the blue ribbon together with Professor Pradel in a celebratory ceremony. The new exclusive location is situated in direct proximity to the Public Library on the Fifth Avenue and Grand Central Terminal.
