Aachen DC Grid Summit 2018
Within the context of energy transition, direct current (DC) grids have gained more importance over the past few years and are considered a key technology in the research and development of our future energy supply. Therefore, FEN Research Campus will host the first “Aachen DC Grid Summit” (ADCGS) conference: the two-day event will bring together international experts from industry and science for mutual exchange on new developments in the area of DC technology.
ADCGS will be held on April 19 and 20, 2018, at Tivoli Business & Events in Aachen. Both conference days will feature exciting, practice-oriented presentations by DC experts in two parallel sessions. Day one focuses on the two sessions ”Grids – Planning, Operation, Protection”, led by Prof. Albert Moser (IAEW at RWTH Aachen University), and ”Grid Management and Automation”, led by Prof. Antonello Monti (ACS at RWTH Aachen University). Renowned representatives from industry and academia will attend the summit as speakers, including presentations by Westnetz, Siemens, Amprion, ENTSO-E, RWTH Aachen University as well as the University of South Carolina, among others. On day two, participants will be offered the two sessions ”Components – Converters, Switches & Cables”, led by Prof. Rik W. De Doncker (PGS and ISEA at RWTH Aachen University), and ”Business Models, Innovations & Social Aspects”, led by Prof. Eva-Maria Jakobs (HCIC at RWTH Aachen University) and Prof. Reinhard Madlener (FCN at RWTH Aachen University). Presentations on both industry and research topics will be held by experts from Mitsubishi Electric, Hager, AixControl, University of Düsseldorf and the Technical University of Darmstadt. Keynote speakers will be announced soon.
The conference gives the participants from industry and research the opportunity to enter into direct dialogue, to network among each other and to exchange interdisciplinary knowledge on anything related to DC technology. Besides the presentation sessions, there will also be an exhibition area, where industry and academia can present their latest research and project findings, for example in the form of posters.
Online registration for ADCGS 2018 is possible until April 19, 2018, via the conference website - early bird prices are available until February 15, 2018, inclusively.
Moreover, there is a “Call for Posters” that invites interested participants to submit relevant and innovative contributions (posters) on DC topics online.
FEN Research Campus is looking forward to two exciting conference days.

Since ADCGS garnered much interest at the "E-world energy & water" in Essen, the Early Bird registration will be extended until February 28, 2018. Thereby, the organizer, FEN Research Campus, wants to enable interested delegates from the E-world to register for the conference at a reduced price.
