Bernhard Schölkopf to receive the Körber Prize at Hamburg City Hall on 13 September

The German physicist, mathematician and computer scientist Bernhard Schölkopf is to receive the 2019 Körber European Science Prize, endowed with 1,000,000 euros. The researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen has developed mathematical methods that have made a major contribution to artificial intelligence (AI) reaching its most recent heights. Schölkopf has achieved worldwide renown with support-vector machines.

Körber Lecture
On 12 September 2019 at 4 pm Bernhard Schölkopf will give a Körber Lecture entitled "Organizing principles underlying artificial intelligence" in lecture hall H1 of the University of Hamburg, Department of Mathematics, Geomatikum, Bundesstr. 55, 20146 Hamburg. You are also cordially invited to attend this event.

At 1,000,000 euros, the Körber European Science Prize is one of the most highly endowed research prizes. Every year since 1985, the Körber Foundation has awarded this prize for a major breakthrough in the life or physical sciences in Europe.
