European city comparison: One in three small and medium-sized enterprises is threatened by a crisis
Among others, the survey's aim was to give insights on how SMEs dealt with crisis and which countermeasures have been introduced. For Germany, scientists from IfM Bonn evaluated the survey results.
Every third small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) in and around Frankfurt has experienced an existential crisis in the past 5 years. This is also true for the cities of London, Paris and Madrid. Only in Milan, the share of SMEs being hit by a crisis is substantially lower (23%). This is the result of the Europe-wide study "Building resilience in under-represented entrepreneurs: A European comparative study", for which a total of 2,975 companies have been surveyed with support from J.P. Morgan.
