Virtual conference “Democratize AI“ presents advances in AI and robotics
The collaborative research center EASE supports the online conference “Democratize AI”, which opened its virtual doors on September 30, 2020, and will feature multiple sessions – pre-recorded or live – until October 14. The conference addresses potentials and challenges of open science in artificial intelligence and robotics.
The virtual conference “Democratize AI” has started with a total of sixteen talks, tutorials, interviews, and demonstrations by international researchers and practitioners. In addition, all speakers will hold Q&A sessions between October 5 and 9, 2020. A panel discussion and many networking opportunities are also part of the program. Pre-recorded material will be available throughout the whole duration of the conference from September 30 to October 14, 2020.
“Democratize AI” focuses on advances, challenges, and potentials of open science in artificial intelligence and robotics. The collaborative research center EASE at the University of Bremen supports the conference, which is part of the TransAIR project at the Institute of Artificial Intelligence. EASE (Everyday Activity Science and Engineering) contributes sessions discussing – among other topics – open innovation platforms in robotics and strategies for creating robots that can perform manipulation tasks at the competence level of humans. Other talks cover research in areas such as task planning, robot motor control, knowledge representation, reasoning, machine learning, and computer vision.
The TransAIR project aims to extend collaboration between the regional network of researchers from Bremen with scientists from the U.S. The project develops a transatlantic dialogue about artificial intelligence and robotics to facilitate the exchange of ideas about AI research and commercialization in Germany and the U.S. To facilitate collaboration between the two countries, TransAIR holds two conferences that bring together scientists in this field. The project is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the “Future of Work” campaign.
