Prof. Dr. Dmitry Ivanov from the Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht Berlin (HWR Berlin) is the only Berlin scientist from a university of applied sciences on the list of "Global Highly Cited Researchers" 2021.
Berlin, 19 November 2021: Prof. Dr. Dr. habil. Dmitry Ivanov from the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR Berlin) is on the recently published list of "Global Highly Cited Researchers" 2021: The Berlin professor of Supply Chain and Operations Management is the only Berlin researcher from a university of applied sciences (HAW) to make it into the Who's Who of the international science scene. Some 6,600 scientists are listed in 22 subject categories as "Highly Cited Researchers". All of them have made an outstanding impact on their field through their scientific work.
Prof. Dr. Dmitry Ivanov researches the 3P triad in Global Supply Chain and Operations Management: Planet, People, Profit. The scientific focus of his research on integrated process-oriented planning and management of the flows of goods, information and money - from the customer to the raw material supplier - is on digital, resilient, sustainable and efficient value and supply chains. The internationally sought-after expert regularly presents his research findings in the fields of supply chain resilience, digital supply chains and Industry 4.0 at leading specialist conferences and leads globally active working groups. In 2020 and 2021, he gave numerous plenary lectures by invitation at renowned international conferences such as INFORMS ICSS, IFIP APMS, and IFIP PRO-VE.
The Berlin researcher publishes his scientific findings in textbooks and monographs, he wrote over 110 articles for leading international journals and authored more than 160 conference and book contributions. GoogleScholar counts more than 12,000 citations of his work, with over 5,200 mentions already added in 2021 alone. His most cited papers are currently "Predicting the impacts of epidemic outbreaks on global supply chains: A simulation-based analysis on the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2) case" (2020) in Transportation Research: Part E with currently 844 citations and "The impact of digital technology and Industry 4.0 on the ripple effect and supply chain risk analytics" (2019) in the International Journal of Production Research with 614 citations. Ivanov has received several international prizes and awards for his work, for example the Best Paper Award 2018 of the International Journal of Production Research, the Most Cited Author Award of the International Journal of Production Research in 2019 and 2020, and the Annual Reviewer Award 2020 of the International Journal of Production Economics. He is listed in the ranking of one of Germany’s leading business newspapers WirtschaftsWoche as a "Top Researcher in Business Administration" 2020 and 2018 rankings.
Clarivate Analytics publishes an annual overview of the leading international scientists based on information from the publication database "Web of Science". These are among the most influential one percent of their field. The decisive factor for this evaluation is how often colleagues have quoted the scientific publications of the listed researchers in the last ten years, in this case from 2009 to 2019. Clarivate Analytics claims to be the world's only publisher-neutral global citation database.
With 331 highly cited researchers, Germany ranks fifth on the list of "Global Highly Cited Researchers" 2021 in a country comparison, after the USA, China, the UK and Australia. Berlin is represented by Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin and, for the first time, Berlin School of Economics and Law.
Prof. Dr. Andreas Zaby, President of the HWR Berlin, says: "Dmitry Ivanov not only stands for research at a top international level, he is also an important driving force in teaching. The great success of our degree programmes in Supply Chain and Operations Management is largely due to him. Our practice-oriented Bachelor's and Master's programmes in these important disciplines are in great demand among students and cooperating industrial companies."
