A method becomes business practice as soon as it is effectively and efficiently used by an organisation on a regular basis. At the moment, algorithms based on neural networks are in this stage of technology diffusion. This is because neural networks work behind the websites that translate themselves automatically, behind the facial recognition in the legitimation check or behind the computer voices in the call centres that can react in context. The research programme "Artificial Intelligence from an Economic Perspective" aims to accompany this development scientifically.
Economics deals with companies, markets and countries. Specific operational questions about AI relate to production, marketing, management accountig, financing and, last but not least, the influence on a company's business model. The diffusion of AI into individual sectors, such as the energy and water sector, is also examined. From an economic point of view, the focus is on the effects on the labour market, economic policy and social issues.
