Frankfurt am Main, 01.07.2022
Satisfied faces among exhibitors and conference participants. After four intensive days, the German Rubber Conference (DKT) and the International Rubber Conference (IRC) came to an end yesterday in Nuremberg. Scientists, professionals and executives from around the world visited from June 27-30, 2022 the largest trade exhibition in the rubber industry and the rubber conference taking place at the same time. Dr. H.-Martin Issel, Chairman of the host German Rubber Society (DKG) and Managing Director of Unimatec Chemicals Europe GmbH, was very satisfied with the course of events: "We had a few cancellations in advance due to corona. But that didn't detract from the good mood. In the end, DKT IRC 2021 was a complete success!"
DKT IRC 2021 had been postponed by one year due to the pandemic. And so Prof. Dr. Andreas Limper, managing director of the DKG, already emphasized in the run-up to the conference that in view of Corona as well as turbulent economic times, "refreshing and revitalizing networks through personal encounters" as well as "the dialog between junior staff and experienced experts" were more important than usual.
According to Prof. Limper, this assessment has now been confirmed. "In Nuremberg, it became clear that conferences and trade fairs as meeting places will remain central business, science and innovation drivers in the future."
The dialogue was promoted by a diverse program. More than 250 companies from all over the world presented their products and innovations at DKT IRC 2021. These included finished products, raw and auxiliary materials, machinery, testing and analysis equipment, and industry software. The scientific conference, which took place at the same time, also offered a broad program of presentations with 133 papers and 36 posters on all topics related to the rubber industry. Renowned research institutes presented themselves at the Science Campus and there was a well-attended forum on thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs).
The industry also paid special attention to the next generation of specialists and managers: With a forum of young researchers and an Educational Symposium for newcomers to the industry. The industry associations wdk and ADK also enabled students to attend the show free of charge by funding both their travel expenses and a generous expense allowance.
DKG Chairman Dr. Issel then also drew a thoroughly positive conclusion to the DKT IRC in Nuremberg: "The last few days were characterized by valuable discussions with a wide-ranging audience. We are very satisfied with the course of the conference and have received positive feedback from the visitors throughout. Everyone was visibly relieved to finally be able to meet again after two long Corona years and to engage in personal exchange." He added that in Nuremberg, both the conference and the trade show had shown "that the DKT is an important source of impetus for the industry in these challenging times and that the rubber industry with its suppliers, processors and scientists can rely on its strength in turbulent times! In this respect, the comeback of the DKT this year came at just the right time," Dr. Issel continued.
The next German Rubber Conference (DKT) will take place from July 1 to 4, 2024. The sponsor and organizer will then again be the Deutsche Kautschuk-Gesellschaft e.V. (DKG), based in Frankfurt/Main.
