All set to start – the international ICULTA 2023 conference on UV LEDs and their applications
The 3rd 'International Conference on UV LED Technologies & Applications' (ICULTA) will take place in Berlin from April 23 to 26, 2023. Topics of the wide-ranging program cover the entire value chain, from UV LED technology to versatile UV systems and applications. Experts from more than 25 countries are expected to attend. A limited number of conference tickets is still available. ICULTA 2023 is organized by Advanced UV for Life e.V. and Ferdinand-Braun-Institut gGmbH, in cooperation with the International UV Association (IUVA).
The Corona pandemic has added a lot of momentum to the use of UV-LED based light since it provides a reliable as well as very effective and economic method to inactivate viruses and other pathogens. No chemicals are needed or released, and low irradiation doses are sufficient. The 3rd 'International Conference on UV LED Technologies & Applications' (ICULTA), to be held April 23-26, 2023 in Berlin, stands out for two unique features. Firstly, the focus of the presentations is on the utilization of LEDs as UV sources. Secondly, the conference covers the entire value chain, ranging from UV LED technology to various technical systems and applications that employ UV radiation. Over the past couple of years, significant technological advancements have been achieved, and a deeper understanding has been gained regarding mechanisms and challenges of UV radiation. Additionally, it has become evident how UV LEDs can be utilized most efficiently. Nonetheless, there are some unresolved matters, ranging from physical and technical to photobiological and regulatory issues, and therefore intensive discussions at the conference are expected. For those who decide to attend on short notice: A limited number of conference tickets is still available.
Multi-faceted program with international participants
The conference brings together experts from more than 25 countries, with a program as diverse as the UV LED applications. Naturally, disinfection of air, surfaces and water will again be of central importance, but sessions on analytics and applications in medicine, food production and safety as well as on UV curing are also addressed at the conference. ICULTA 2023 offers a comprehensive program covering cutting-edge topics and presenting 31 renowned plenary and invited speakers as well as 28 contributed talks and more than 25 poster presentations. Another important aspect of the conference will be a round-table discussion concerning the safety regulations, governing the utilization of far-UVC (210 - 240 nm) radiation in the presence of human beings. Over 200 participants are expected to attend ICULTA 2023, with strong international showing. ICULTA 2023 also offers a tutorial session on Sunday, an accompanying exhibition as well as technical tours. Exhibitors include large LED producers such as Nichia and ams-OSRAM; the co-organizing Ferdinand-Braun-Institut will show its UV LEDs and an irradiation system used to inactivate viruses and bacteria directly on the skin.
The ICULTA conference is organized by the newly established “Advanced UV for Life e.V.” Association together with the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut gGmbH, Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik, and in cooperation with the International UV Association (IUVA). Conference venue is the Meliá Hotel, located in the center of Berlin.
