With the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding by the Rector Prof. Dr Dr hc. Bastian Kaiser (HFR) on 21 November 2023, a next step has been made to intensify and deepen the partnership between Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia and the University of Applied Forest Sciences, Rottenburg.

This MOU will consolidate the existing contacts that Prof. Dr Steffen Abele (Professorship Rural Economics in the study program Sustainable Regional Development has maintained for years with his Ethiopian colleagues. The MOU’s aim is to support cooperation in both research and teaching. The present focus of joint activities lies in the field of rural resource management, in particular in the contribution of agroforestry systems to biomass production for rural energy generation, sustainable land use, but also risk management in agriculture.
