Kick-Off Europe Horizon Doctoral Network Project at Enschede (NL)
From 13 to 18 November 2023 participants of the EU funded project ModConFlex - Modelling and control of flexible structures interacting with fluids - met for the first network meeting at the university of Twente (Enschede, Netherlands). The Europe Horizon MSCA project is coordinated by Prof. Birgit Jacob at the university of Wuppertal and will train 14 doctoral students in seminal areas of research over the next years. The focus of research is on systems theory (mathematical modelling of dynamic systems), energy based modelling (especially in the area of offshore wind energy) and artifical intelligence.
After the kick-off meeting with 21 participants, 12 recently hired doctoral students received five days of intensive scientific training by lecturers from industry and academia. The doctoral students will be working at eight different universities in five different countries. During their time as project researchers they will also spend time researching at two partner universities and one industry partner abroad. Their training in state-of-the-art research methods is further supported by scientific schools and seminars at annual network meetings.
The EU funded doctoral network focusses not only on excellent scientific training but also the international mobility of researchers. Soft skills are also added to the training.
