The Creative Bureaucracy Festival 7th year sets off to an exciting start with the Digital Kick-Off Day on 21 March, followed by the Live Festival on 13 June. Each year, these two gatherings unite thousands of participants from administration, politics, and society worldwide to exchange successful innovations in the public sector and honor administrative talent from across the globe.
As the first event of the year, the Digital Kick-Off Day promises an enriching programme with inspiring examples of creative and innovative management. The online event consists of more than 90 entries selected by an international jury from the Call for Participation. Participation is free of charge. In 2023, this format garnered international acclaim, drawing nearly 2,000 digital attendees from 77 countries via the live stream. This year, we're proud to introduce three distinct categories for the first time. The lineup boasts 40 project showcases, 22 digital workshops, and 30 podcast episodes featuring speakers hailing from over 30 countries, all as part of the Digital Kick-Off Day. The event revolves around four programme clusters: Bureaucracy 2045: Thinking Afresh, Transforming How We Work, Delivering Collective Impact, and Living Better Together. The community voting segment offers a key opportunity for engagement, allowing viewers to select the six winning projects that will be featured on the grand stage on 13 June. Participation in Digital Kick-Off Day is free of charge.
“We see teams with drive, whose projects show us new ways of conceiving, developing and implementing administrative innovation in different settings. Their creativity and their ability to work together enable everyone to learn from each other. In this way, changes in public institutions can be sustainably shaped for the well-being of everyone," says festival director Johanna Sieben. For the fifth year in a row, PD - Berater der öffentlichen Hand GmbH is the main festival partner of the Creative Bureaucracy Festival. Claus Wechselmann, Managing Director of PD, recognises it as the most important event for learning about administration for the benefit of administration: "The festival has established itself as a networking platform for courageous and innovative thought leaders and shapers of administrative transformation. Our participation in the Digital Kick-Off Day and the Live Festival are highlights of our external communication activities. We look forward to the joint presentation and discussion of best practices from our public sector clients at the international festival. One focus this year will be on practical examples of artificial intelligence in public administration."
Other project partners of the festival include Bertelsmann-Stiftung, GPM - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Projektmanagement e.V, German Federal Ministry of Defense, and BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt.
The Creative Bureaucracy Festival opens its doors on 13 June 2023 in Berlin at 8.30 am (CEST). The programme will present short talks, workshops, panel discussions and much more from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. Once again, creative minds from all over the world will be welcomed to rethink principles, processes and practices for innovation and change in our public administrations and institutions. With over 70 sessions, over 150 speakers and over 100 participating institutions, a new year of innovation will be set in motion. The festival will cover a range of topics including digitalisation, strategies for promoting comprehensive equal opportunities, addressing the need for skilled workers, and enhancing coordination for collective action to tackle today’s greatest challenges. The programme and speakers will be announced in April/May 2024.
