Honored once again: ISM may continue to use the title “Fairtrade” university
Fair trade remains an important topic for the university landscape. The Hamburg campus of the International School of Management (ISM) has been awarded the title of “Fairtrade” university for the second time.
The ISM campus has been Hamburg's only “Fairtrade” university since 2023 and will remain so for another two years until 2027. Prof. Dr. Nicole Fabisch and her team were able to successfully renew the title.
In recent years, fair trade products have been introduced in coffee kitchens, at all events and at university festivals. There have also been various fair trade events. Further activities with a “fair trade” focus are planned for the coming year, which will also involve students, such as a “fair trade” rally through the Speicherstadt in cooperation with Mobile Bildung e.V. or a wine and coffee tasting. In the fourth quarter, a “Fairtrade” summit is also planned for the first time on the Hamburg campus in collaboration with the Hamburg Marketing Club.
“There are numerous political requirements to improve living and working conditions for people along global supply and value chains. As a university, we also want to make our contribution to this, and I am proud of the commitment of our lecturers and students,” says ISM President Prof. Dr. Ingo Böckenholt.
“The seal is clearly a joint effort,” as Project manager Prof. Dr. Nicole Fabisch emphasizes: “We have integrated Fairtrade products into our everyday life, not only at special events, but also in daily campus life. We have already achieved a lot and I am delighted if we can expand our commitment on campus even further together.”
