WHU Appoints Professor Dr. Dries Faems
Düsseldorf/Vallendar, August 2, 2018. On August 1, 2018, Professor Dr. Dries Faems joined the faculty of WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. He has been appointed Professor for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technological Transformation.
“We are delighted to be gaining Professor Dr. Dries Faems as an excellent management expert for the Professorship for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technological Transformation,” Professor Dr. Markus Rudolf, Dean of WHU, explained. To date, Professor Dr. Faems has taught in the field of innovation and organization at the University of Groningen, Twente University and the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.
Professor Dr. Faems studied Commercial Engineering at Katholieke Univer-siteit te Leuven, where he subsequently did his doctorate on the topic “Col-laboration for Innovation: Processes of Governance and Learning in R&D Alliances.” He has been a Visiting Professor at the LUISS Business School in Italy since 2015 and Director of the Research Program for Innovation and Organization at the SOM Research Institute of the University of Groningen. Since 2015, Professor Dr. Faems has also coordinated the training program for executives carried out by the European Commission Directorate-General CONNECT, entitled “How to make innovation happen in Horizon2020.”
Professor Dr. Dries Faems’ research focus is on the topic of collaboration for innovation. In particular, he studies the financial implications of open innovation strategies and explores the management of alliances and acquisitions in the area of research & development. His research has appeared in leading international journals including the Academy of Management Journal, the Strategic Management Journal, Organization Studies, Research Policy and the Journal of Product Innovation Management. Professor Dr. Dries Faems is also Consulting Editor of the Journal of Management Studies and a member of the Editorial Board of the Academy of Management Journal.
